"Due to current climatic changes and destructive land use, land is degrading faster than ever, increasing the surface area of drylands and deserts around the globe. Fourteen civil society organisations from all over the world have started working together to combat land degradation in an EU-funded project called Drynet"

In september 2009 heeft de site een  upgrade gehad en is de Google earth applicatie verbeterd. In Avenue (het CMS) zijn nu landenpagina's aangemaakt, waaraan fotoalbums, youtube video's en ook geluidsfragmenten kunnen worden toegevoegd. De Google functionaliteit is ook uitgebreid naar functionaliteit per land in, waarbij in Google de projecten per land kunnen worden bekeken.
